Care Instructions

  • Allow worms to come to room temperature.
  • Transfer worms into a shallow, smooth sided tub or tray.
  • If sides are smooth enough a lid should not be needed.  If you use a lid, make sure it is well ventilated.
  • Add a small amount of wheat bran, oatmeal, crushed Wheaties or Cheerios.
  • Place in refrigerator at about 45 degrees.  Bottom drawers and doors are most likely the warmest part of your fridge so they are the best places to store your mealworms.
  • Take the worms out every 7-10 days and feed them a carrot for a few hours.  Remove any excess carrot before putting the dish back in the refrigerator.

  • Keep in shipping container and store them between 50-60 degrees.
  • To store for a long period of time, check frequently for expired worms and discard.
